The lower price point and the “neck collar” both indicate that this is our yearly Extreme Chompin Rex (a new one every year!) with a new battle damage feature.
My favorite thing about this toy is that it’s not under the Battle Damage brand. I have been an advocate of Mattel moving away from the Legacy Collection and Battle Damage sub-lines and instead releasing the same toys as proper wide releases that can be purchased via multiple different stores. With Battle Damage in particular we have lost a lot of potential toys because they did not come to the USA. Gasosaurus is the biggest offender here since that species is currently only available as a BD figure. I want to see more figures with battle damage action features that aren’t restricted to the whims of Walmart so they can be purchased for MSRP on Amazon, which has always been the most convenient place to buy these figures and has only gotten more desirable since the pandemic began.
